Trump’s Last Tweet

Who has shares in Twitter? Founder Jack Dorsey, the Vanguard Group, Morgan Stanley, Black Rock, State Street Global Advisors and ClearBridge Investments.

Twitter’s actions have opened up a line of enquiry they will wish to forget; with a huge public figure being silenced the debate into freedom of speech and how to regulate the internet effectively will rage. How do you think the topics of sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and incitement to violence should be controlled on the internet? Film is regulated by the British Board of Film Classification. I would suggest that their criteria are used to regulate cyberspace. At present Twitter has 35,ooo in their safety team  with 330 million monthly active users and a net income for 2020 of 1.3 million dollars, so much more can and needs to be done.

The BBFC criteria are:

Dangerous behaviour

Discrimination

Drugs

Language

Nudity

Sexual violence and sexual threat

Threat and horror

Violence

Trump’s language would be banned for the following reason:

  •  where material or treatment appears to us to risk harm to individuals or, through their behaviour, to  society
