I think one compartment
of the brain
is a photograph album
the memories are stored over the years
and retrieved when some person or event
asks to see one
at near sudden death
the photos spill out in order
a fast forward flash back through one’s life
with dementia
the album is too full
and the new photos won’t fit in
and when they start to overlap
and turn upside down
it is called alzheimers
at death
they slide back in order
in to their translucent pockets
and the dust settles
