We are in the climate crisis now. Digital technology is an addiction which encourages flickering and nothing gets read properly or deleted.
On the U-Bahn in Berlin I wrote down the pattern of passengers in my carriage:

No-one one reads books any more. We look up a restaurant, a route, a fact at the whim of a hat and don’t really know where we are going or have a sense of where we are.
Clutter at great cost to the environment.
