I am composing a handwritten letter to Ed Miliband.
Dear Mr. Miliband,
I warmly invite you to come and stay at The Old Rectory in Theberton. I would like to show you the farmland and the forests, the bird sanctuaries and the Sandlings, the rare shingle, the eroded cliffs and the beauty of Aldeburgh, Southwold, Walberswick and Snape.
Suffolk Coastal is a boost to the UK economy with its eco-tourism and food produce and hospitality industry. The construction of Sizewell C and D is killing us. We have wind power, sea power, floods and sun all of which could be harnessed more effectively. I suggest you save the British Taxpayer £39 billion, build the wind farms offshore and use the existing Sizewell pylons as the gateway to the UK for National Grid.
You know the reasons why we are opposed to nuclear: Hinkley is not yet finished, the technology will be obsolete in ten years, it is unregulated with no safety measures for the community in place, there is no way of disposing of the waste, trees and sea are good for mental health recovery while their destruction is causing trauma, rented housing is no longer affordable, holiday makers have nowhere to stay, roads are congested with trucks and carbon dioxide and there is a shortage of water in the Summer.
With warmest wishes,
Vanessa Raison
